WORKING FOR Orakei Ward.
Desley Simpson is a second term Auckland Councillor representing the Orakei Ward around the Town Hall table. She chairs the Finance and Performance Committee, the Value for Money Committee and the Auckland Domain committee as well as being a member of many others.
Prior to election as a Councillor, Desley was chairperson of the Orakei Local Board and oversaw investment into many local projects. These included parts of the Hobson Bay Walkway, significant sports field upgrades at Madills Farm, Ngahue Reserve and Glover Park along with lasting heritage and environmental initiatives
Her advocacy on Unitary Plan issues during that time was also significant, ensuring Colin Maiden Park was not terraced housing and apartments as first proposed in the Draft Unitary Plan.
